Pop times: 2.10/2.35 / in-game 2.22/2.37/2.34
Owen is a strong bodied catcher with an above average arm, it is accurate, and with some mechanical clean up, i.e. speeding up the footwork and arm stroke, he could become an elite thrower. His practice pop times ranged between 2.10 and 2.35 seconds, and his game throws were 2.22 and 2.37 and 2.34 seconds to 2nd base. All those times can be improved by slightly moving through the ball at the catch, rather than catch then move your feet and throw. During BP Owen featured a quick short stroke to the ball, at times it was steep, his negative move featured a pro leg kick, his timing was slightly off due to starting his load at different times. During the game Owen smoked a double to right center field and had another hard line drive to centerfield, but he cut under a few balls for either pop-ups or fly balls with the steeper swing path. With his soft hands and above average arm Owen should be able to carve out a longer baseball career than most.
