Hayden is a tall strong looking first baseman/LHP, who showed an above average arm stroke and accuracy from first base. He has soft hands moved really well around the bag, and makes a good target for his infielders. During batting practice Hayden drove the ball with authority and showed advanced bat skills, during the game he did not disappoint as he struck just about every ball on the screws, collecting several hits and a double along the way. On the mound, Hayden's big arm did not translate into velocity off the bump, as he sat between 77 and 75 mph with his fastball, and 66 mph with his breaking ball. His motion was too smooth and easy, almost like he was holding back. A longer stride and some more torque/violence from his upper body should wake up his arm speed from the mound.
