Matt is a solidly built catcher with an above average arm and a solid quick release, he has solid footwork and the ability to play at another level behind the plate. He caught the fastball well, can soften up on the CB a big. Matt had a solid set up, slightly high with a man on first, this is due to a narrow stance. His pop times during the workout were between 1.96 and 2.08 seconds, well above average. Matt has the ability to be an elite receiver. At the plate, during his BP session, Matt had an athletic stance with a solid load, his hands drifted slightly with his stride, which translates to being a fastball hitter, and some loss of power. During the game he took solid swings and had several just miss high fly balls to the outfield.
