Spalding Most Inspirational Player Award
Young catcher/middle infielder. Lots of heart & desire to become a better player. Did not participate in BP due to fracture in his right hand. He did have at-bats in games & bunted only, worked at all facets of the bunt game, took the opportunity to get better vs lamenting a bad hand. He demonstrated great college skill quality by executing drag, push & squeeze bunts. Behind the plate he shows soft hands, excellent receiving skills, strong arm, & ability to block the ball in the dirt. At 2b he was diving & making plays like a seasoned veteran. As Elliott gains size & strength, look for him to be a leader on the field, in the dugout, and in the weight room.
