Gerald is a high energy athletic OF who can also pitch. At the plate he demonstrated the ability to hit the ball to all fields with a flat quick swing. He showed line drive hitting skills that are condusive to becoming a top notch hitter. Defensively, he is a more than capable OF, as he runs well & featured a strong & accurate arm. He also took the challenge from the on-field coaches to give 2nd base a shot and played it very capably, so much so that if given the time to develop there, he could compete exceptionally well at that position. On the mound his arm is loose & whippy. He does not have high end velocity yet, in part due to a bit of a short stride. When he learns to lenghten his stride & engage his legs, like he does in the outfield, he will gain more velocity. His dugout presence and interactions with his teammates was also noted as a strong positive by the on-field coaching staff.
