Jake is a stoutly built 2018 catcher who displayed soft hands and a slightly high set-up with men on base. His arm strength is slightly above average to a smidge better, and he showed quickness of feet, and hands that could allow him to become a solid long-term player behind the plate. His pop times during his defensive session ranged between 2.10 and 2.15 seconds, his game throws were between 2.15 and 2.27 seconds. A slightly wider stance, as if to pretend guarding somebody in basketball and then go down into the squat, this will help with moving through the ball rather than popping up at first movement. At the plate Jake featured, a solidly athletic swing and approach, the swing was quick and direct to the ball for the most part and he was able to smoke some balls into the outfield (one for double) and his approach seems to be solid with a plan at the plate.
