Jacob was a late arrival so we did not get a chance to bear down on his individual mechanics at the plate and in the field under the evaluators microscope. Jacob had a nice set up at plate with a simple take away and load, he had good balance and a quick flat swing to the ball, striking several balls well. On the infield he featured a strong arm and good solid INF actions that confirmed his athletic nature. On the mound his arm was loose and whippy, he used both sides of the plate to cut hitters up with his 81-80 mph FB and his 70 mph CB. There is definitely more in the tank, as his stride was short and lacked necessary momentum down the mound to properly accelerate his arm. Look for Jacob's velo to spike once he gets into his legs better. The velocity was a bit lower and that was expected as he pitched four innings in an NCS championship game on Friday.
