Zach is a solid catcher with a compact, strong athletic frame. He did not show as well during BP as his swing path was very steep and he sliced through his contact but his in-game swings were better as his timing was more in sync. He had a couple of well struck and "just missed" fly outs to centerfield that I know he would like to have back. He just missed because the steep swing path causes just that, hard ground balls, pop ups and just missed/sliced flyballs that are hit well. When he learns to flatten his swing path out he will be a good defensive catcher who can hit. Zach has good arm strength not great, he has very good catch and throw actions. His pop time ranged between 2.12 and 2.21. This means, as he continues to get better, a crowded field of suitors will follow.
