Smith is long and lanky with a pro-type frame, looks like a thinner version of the guys on TV. On the mound he topped out at 82 but unknowingly left MPH in the tank by having a soft front (glove) side that should be leading the charge to the plate, but rather falls quietly below his waist. That is a teachable adjustment.  By reaching/stretching w/glove, it = longer stride, that = greater velocity with all pitches.  He is two-way player and he could develop into a very solid player on both sides as he learns to create a better load and timing at plate.  Matt demonstrated quick hands and loud contact when timing was right.
