Kyler Key - '18 Del Campo HS #24·C/3B

6'0" 190, R/R, 3.50 GPA

Young, good bodied catcher. Soft hands, moves behind the plate well & blocks well. His throwing mechanics are young and will improve with coaching and a long toss program.  Kyler would benefit by stepping in a straight line towards 2b w/ his left foot when throwing down to 2b. The positive motion will make him more accurate, increase his arm strength & lower his pop time. He can also make those soft hands work better by being more aggressive with when he receives the baseball (currently very deep toward his body).  Open stance at the plate, demonstrated he can hit the ball in better than he hits the ball that is away. This is due to him carrying his hands w/his stride rather than holding them in position. With hard work behind the plate defensively, Kyler will develop into a capable backstop.  His effort and love of the game was apparent.
