Dawsen is a solid strong body catcher with above average actions and footwork, and quickness behind the plate features a good and strong arm.  His practice pop times ranged between 1.98 and 2.12. His flaw that he can work out of his throwing mechanics is making a large L movement instead of being more direct to his target. With some solid adjustments, his game pop times should climb below his practice times. At the plate during both BP and games, Dawsen showed a solid approach, he features quick hands at the plate, has real power potential, with more load and separation, his swing is slightly steep (upward) and could be flattened for more success. Dawsen’s catch and throw ability should grab the attention of college suitors now and he has the power potential of a middle of the order hitter.
