Alex is a lean athletic catcher who showed well above average quickness behind the plate.  His set-up and soft hands coupled with a well above average arm allowed Alex to achieve pop times ranging between 1.93 seconds to 2.01 during his defense workout. In the games Alex showed the ability to block the ball and fire a 2.06 second base, showing he is more than capable behind the plate. His BP session featured quick hands and a nice flat swing and gap line drive power.  During the games Alex barreled up three of five balls he hit. And showed he is just not a defense only receiver. On the on the mound Alex was very athletic from from a three-quarter arm slot, he featured a fastball that was between 85 mph and 83 mph, and a curveball between 68 and 66 mph. With his arm slot and stride to the third-base box he was deceptive to the right-handed hitters, but inconsistent with his release. Next level baseball should be awaiting this young catcher/pitcher/hitter/versatile talent.
